Lead Locksmith Job Summary The Lead Locksmith is responsible for maintaining and repairing all locks, electronic access systems, and parking permit pay-stations for the organization. The role requires excellent troubleshooting and maintenance skills and involves providing work direction to other staff members. The Lead Locksmith will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be expected to perform duties in a timely and safe manner. This position is based at the Antelope Valley College. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead maintenance and repair of all locks, electronic access systems, and parking permit pay-stations.
• Maintain and repair master key systems, key inventory, and security of duplicate keys.
• Perform installations, repairs, and maintenance on locking systems, including locks, keys, key cards, and related parts and hardware.
• Manage inventory of lock-related parts and re-order as necessary.
• Perform routine inspections, repairs, and servicing of locks and related hardware according to preventative maintenance schedule.
• Provide work direction to appropriate staff and fill in for Maintenance Supervisor when required. Requirements:
  • High school diploma supplemented by completion of a locksmith apprenticeship program and three years journey-level locksmith experience in a commercial, industrial, institutional or facilities operations setting. One year of experience in a lead capacity desirable.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Familiarity with industry methods, tools, and equipment, as well as complex access control systems, electronic locking, and security devices.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction and to use a computer and learn new computer applications and software as required.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects up to 50 lbs., bend at the waist, kneel or crouch, reach overhead above the shoulders and horizontally, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work after hours and/or weekends or varied hours as required to maintain district security and operations.
