Job Summary:

Performance Excellence Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating strategic process and system improvement initiatives in support of the Henry Mayo Management System transformation effort. The Coordinator will be responsible for advancing organizational knowledge and capability by teaching management and process improvement concepts, tools and methodologies based upon the Toyota Management and Toyota Production systems. They will independently and collaboratively facilitate large cross functional teams through all aspects of process improvement using Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) as the fundamental model for improvement. They will serve as a coach for implementing and sustaining elements of a daily management system throughout the organization. They will consult with senior leadership and provide analysis and advice on strategic process and system improvement topics. This individual supports the organization to assure goals are achieved within the specified time frames and result sustained indefinitely.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Clinical, healthcare relevant, license or certification is highly desirable.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification required at time of hire or within first year of employment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or health care related degree required; Master's Degree in Business or health care related degree preferred; coursework in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, business, science, and engineering) preferred.
  • Formal coursework in Lean required. Lean coursework/knowledge can be obtained through experiential learning (i.e. participation in 5S, Kaizen or VSM which included Lean education)

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience in the formal application of process improvement
  • Three (3) years of work experience in an acute health care setting
  • Previous Independent facilitation of process improvement teams required; process improvement methodologies, project management, and team facilitation
  • Experience with developing educational material and delivery of training programs is required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of health care regulations, accreditation, and licensing requirements preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge and skills using PC/Macintosh applications, especially spreadsheet, online analytic processing tools, and statistical functions
  • Intermediate understanding of statistics and interpretation of data
  • Shares information, resources, and ideas and contributes to the achievement of a high performing team.
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods (written, verbal, non-verbal, electronic) when dealing with patients, families and colleagues.
  • Must have good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be willing to work both collaboratively and independently within a deadline- driven environment
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to quickly develop and maintain productive relationships with team members
  • Ability to complete work assignments, accurately, timely, and with some supervision
  • Ability to project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct
  • Must be self-motivated and able to adapt to evolving business needs
