Our client, a respected national nonprofit, is seeking a Controller to oversee all financial operations and drive organizational excellence. This is a high-visibility role where you'll lead a finance team, partner with senior leadership, and ensure financial integrity across the organization. The Controller will lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, while acting as a key strategic partner to the executive leadership. You will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, optimizing operational efficiency, and strengthening long-term sustainability and impact. Responsibilities: Manage all accounting functions including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end/year-end close. Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to leadership and the board. Ensure full compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and external reporting requirements. Lead the annual audit and serve as primary liaison with external auditors. Develop, implement, and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and best practices. Oversee grant reporting, monitor restricted funds, and ensure accurate fund accounting. Qualifications: CPA is required 12 years of accounting experience with current or prior nonprofit industry experience Deep understanding of nonprofit financial reporting, compliance, and fund accounting Proven experience leading and developing finance/accounting staff Strong technical proficiency in accounting systems and Excel Exceptional communication, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills
